MEXICAN CINEMATOGRAPHERS


Gabriel Figueroa (1907-1977, b. México City), filming "La Perla" ("The Pearl"). A muralist of the celluloid, Figueroa was the greatest cinematographer of Mexican Movies' Golden Age (~1940). His classical camera works under director Emilio "Indio" Fernández aesthetically portrait the most traditional landscapes and people in México's countryside and urban life.



Emmanuel Lubezki (1964-, b. México City). One of the most internationally aknowledged mexican cinematographers of the last decade, Lubezki is well-known for his work in "Miroslava", "Like Water for Chocolate" (in México),"The Little Princess", "A Walk in the Clouds", "Meet Joe Black", "The Sleepy Hollow", "Ali". He graduated from Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos, CUEC (UNAM).

Rodrigo Prieto (1965-, b. México City), filming "Amores Perros". Since his realistic, shocking shots of "Amores Perros" ("Love's a Bitch") in México, Prieto's talent has reached international recognition, supported by his work as a cinematographer in "Original Sin", "Frida", "8 Mile" and "25th Hour". He graduated from Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica, CCC (México City).
