Stephanie Ho is interested in topics related to galaxy evolution, and her research focuses on the diffuse gas around galaxies known as the circumgalactic medium (CGM).  In particular, Stephanie's recent work examines the properties of the multiphase CGM and aims to understand the interplay between the CGM and galaxies, e.g., how the CGM feeds the galactic disks and grows the disks inside-out, and how galactic outflows affect the CGM and regulate the star formation of galaxies.Stephanie studies the CGM through both observations and simulations.  She uses the Hubble Space Telescope and ground-based telescopes (UV, optical, and near-IR) to conduct quasar absorption-line studies, galaxy spectroscopy, and imaging.  She also analyzes cosmological simulations to study the circumgalactic gas kinematics and morphology and compare simulation predictions to observations.Currently, Stephanie is an NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellow at NMSU.  Prior to that, Stephanie was a postdoctoral researcher at Texas A&M University after she received her PhD at UC Santa Barbara (thesis: How Do Galaxies Get Their Gas?).
