Eleanor Serviss

Eleanor graduated from the University of Montana with a BA in Physics & Astronomy in 2022. After a stint in geosciences, studying Earth structure via ocean tides and GPS stations, Eleanor came to NMSU in 2024. The through-line of her research path lies in understanding planets: how they form, evolve, and their characteristics. She currently finds ages for young nearby stars to identify targets for direct imaging follow-up. Specifically, by improving the demographics of giant planets, can we uncover underlying mechanisms of planet formation?
Outside of science, Eleanor plays euphonium in the New Horizons Concert Band. She also enjoys playing old-time banjo and watching the Phillies (sometimes at the same time).
